Support the manager and team in executing and advancing the strategic plan and mission of the Office of Gift Planning. Assist in these core functions: driving gift planning activity across campus; providing the highest level of gift planning services to internal and external constituents; managing and mentoring gift planning staff; managing a select portfolio of 60-100 high level prospects and assisting others in managing and soliciting high level planned gift prospects in their portfolios; and developing and implementing programs and special projects that will leverage planned giving to achieve ARD and University goals.
Serve as gift planning liaison and partner to specific units. Develop and implement unit-specific plans and strategies to maximize planned gift opportunities in prospect pools, pipeline development, active solicitations and gift cultivations. Plan and execute a target of 24+ solicitations per year.
Manage gift planning training program for development staff and curate seminars and sessions on specialized topics and for targeted groups, including specific departments, units, senior staff, alumni and volunteers.
Maintain select portfolio of high level prospects and planned gift donors in cultivation; take on assignment of select groups of prospects and suspects for specific purposes or initiatives; enhance and assist gift strategies and cultivations managed by others by providing gift planning and sophisticated philanthropic advice.
Maintain high degree of proficiency in all areas of charitable giving, gift planning and estate planning through continued education and professional development as well as independent inquiry and self-study of existing materials. Keep current with tax law changes affecting charitable giving. Participate in professional associations and maintain relationships to gain knowledge of programs and practices at nonprofit and peer organizations locally and nationally. Serve as the point person on select topics and techniques as assigned to support manager and colleagues. Consult on and contribute to marketing, communication, stewardship strategies that will enhance the gift planning program.
Perform other duties as assigned. Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
Bachelor's degree or higher required.
A minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional experience in gift planning, estate planning, financial planning, philanthropic advisory services, development or fundraising required.
A minimum of two years of leading a project team or managing staff required.
A minimum of one year of experience developing and monitoring budgets required.
